How to reach the island of Kefalonia

Kefalonia is the biggest island of the Ionian Sea. Geographically, it is situated in the middle of the Ionian sea, not far from mainland Greece. You can reach our island travelling by sea or air.
Reach Kefalonia by Sea
You may go with your car up to Patra (2 ½ hours) or to Killini (3 ½ hours). From these two ports you may travel to Kefalonia with ferry boat. There are daily itineraries and quite often during the summer months.
From the port of Patra you may travel to Sami in Kefalonia in only 3 hours and from the port of Killini you will reach Poros in Kefalonia in only 1 hour and 15 minutes. During summer, there is a ship from the port of Killini that reaches Lixouri in only 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Additionally, from Astakos islands of Aetoloacarnania, there is itinerary for Sami in Kefalonia and the trip’s duration is 2 ½ hours.
As far as other sea connections are concerned, there are itineraries from Kefalonia to Ithaca in Zakinthos and Lefkada. During summer and mainly during the high season there are airline connections with many cities of Greece and many flights from various European cities, as well.
